Rain Menace in Ahmedabad: Videos of Waterlogged Roads, Flooded Colonies

Traffic is badly affected due to waterlogging in several parts of Ahmedabad as the city witnessed heavy downpour on Sunday evening.

Many areas like Shyamal Cross Roads, Prahladnagar Corporate Road, Ranip, Juhapura and other parts of the city witnessed waterlogging. Internal roads of the city witnessed lake-like scenes. The vehicular movement is still affected in the city even after 12 hours of the rain. 

Shopkeepers of the city’s Someshwar Complex in Satellites were seen heartbroken as their shops in the basement of the tower were badly affected by the rain. 

Ahmedabad city’s posh area Prahaladnagar witnessed never before scenes as Vraj Vihar Apartment’s basement parking submerged in water as nearby AUDA lake’s wall collapsed. 

Many societies in Ahmedabad’s Juhapura area witnessed heavy flooding.

Pir Kamal near Dani Limda saw heavy water-logging. Continuous rain has led to uprooting of trees and movement was severely affected. Efforts are underway to remove it.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with District Collectors from the State Emergency Operations Center on Sunday to review the steps taken to address the situation caused by heavy rains in South Gujarat, including Chhotaudepur.

Heavy rains pounded a number of districts, including Valsad, Navsari, Tapi, and others. The areas of Paldi, Vasana, and Ellis Bridge received the most rain, totaling 241.3 mm.

In the last three days, Ahmedabad has received 30% of the season’s rainfall.

A flood-like situation occurred in various areas of Nadiad, Gujarat’s Kheda district. In the midst of heavy rain, Gujarat Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi said on Sunday that the state has made plans to relocate people living in low-lying areas to safer areas.
