Veteran actor of Gujarati films, who played the role of ‘Lankapati Raavana’ in the Ramanand Sagar’s TV series ‘Ramayan’ – Arvind Trivedi passed aged 82 due to heart attack on Tuesday.
Arvind Trivedi’s co-star took to social media to express their grief. Arun Govil, who played role of Lord Rama in Ramayan tweeted and condoled his death.
Dipika Chikhlia – who played the character of Sita – took to Instagram and wrote, “My heartfelt condolences to his family a very fine human being” She played the iconic role of Sita in Ramayan.
Sunil Lahiri – Laxman of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan wrote “Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De…I am speechless I lost father figure, my guide, well-wisher & gentleman…” [“Very sad news that our loved Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) is no more between us. May his soul rest in peace…”)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter and condoled his death. He tweeted, “We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti”
About Arvind Trivedi:
Native of Kukdiya village in Idar taluka, Arvind Trivedi, was born in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He was a devotee of Lord Rama and Lord Shiva. He started his career with Gujarati cinema and had acted in more than 250 Gujarati and Hindi films. Also, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Sabarkantha district of Gujarat in 1991. Trivedi was also the Acting Chairman of the Censor Board of India (CBFC) in 2002.
