As the nation celebrated its 73rd Republic Day with a spectacular parade at Rajpath in the national capital earlier today, there was an equal measure of ceremonial fanfare at the BSF Frontier Headquarter in Gandhinagar.
The Republic Day celebrations started with unfurling of the National Flag by G.S. Malik, IG, BSF Gujarat. Also present were officers and rank-holding military personnel.
“The BSF Gujarat Frontier is deployed along an 826 km-long Indo-Pak border that stretches through Gujarat and Barmer district of Rajasthan. We salute the alert and vigilant border forces who give up their sleep so that we can rest,” noted the IG in his speech on the occasion.
Gen Malik also emphasised the BSF’s role in the fight against Covid 19. Later, a senior deputation of army officers, led by the IG, visited BSF Hospital in Gandhinagar to convey wishes to patients.
Noteworthy is the BSF goodwill gesture of extending sweetmeats to personnel from Pakistan Rangers on the international border at Barmer, Rann of Kutch and Bhuj.
