The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) said that it had approached the government seeking a revision of hospital charges. GCCI has also requested the government to devise a star grading system for the hospitals as well.
In a letter to Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, GCCI said insurance companies are not revising the charge of all hospitals regularly. Considering the inflation rate, the rates for all hospitals must be revised at 6% per annum from the date of the last renewal. The letter also mentioned streamlining the insurance process, as the patient, who has paid hefty premiums, still has to face delays in reimbursements.
Furthermore, the letter also requested Dr Mandaviya to set up a star rating system for the hospitals. This rating must be decided based on the hospital’s infrastructure, the facilities and amenities offered to the patients, the variety of services offered and other such criteria.
