A Right to Information (RTI) activist was detained by the Mumbai police for making “derogatory” comments about several people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, the police said on Saturday.
According to the police, the defendant, Ghulam Qazi, is an RTI activist. The police stated, “We have filed a case against the accused under Indian Penal Code Sections 509, 500, 506 (2), and 504 and taken him into custody,” and added that “The accused allegedly threatened them.”
According to a representative of Mumbai’s Sakinaka police station, the accused allegedly wrote “derogatory” things on Facebook about the prime minister and other world leaders.
