The education department has become active in each district of the state with the commencement of grades 1 to 5 from today. The students have started preparations for school admission.
A promising tribal student studying in Science Std 11 at Santokba Dholakia Vidyamandir in Saputara foothills area of Ahwa taluka of Dangs, has been found to have committed suicide by choking himself. He killed himself on the school premises, the reason for it is yet not known.
Saputara police reached the spot after the incident was reported. The investigation is still undergoing. Student’s family and the school has been informed by the police about the incident.
The question also arises as to why the 16-year-old student committed suicide on the school premises.
The police conducted an investigation based on the statements of the school administrators. According to the administrators, the incident took place at 8 am, while the student was identified as a resident of Gundavahal village.
The Gujarat government spends a lot of money to prevent suicides by conducting motivational seminars for students, however, due to the increase in number of suicides, even the education department has failed to impart positive training to them.
