Sardar Patel Turned Farmers’ Struggles Against Injustice Into Positive Movement: Amit Shah

| Updated: October 31, 2021 18:56

Marking the 75th Foundation Day of Amul, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday lauded the company for carving out a name for itself in the global dairy industry.

He said that Sardar Patel has a deep connection with Amul. Patel made the struggle of the farmers against private dairies his inspiration. Along with hardworking government leader Tribhuvandas Kishibhai Patel, swiped the protest towards a positive form.

“This is not only an example for unity but also for the ones who protest. The protests are to solve the problems and not to increase them”.

He informed that Patel protested against exploitation of the farmers in Kheda and planted the seed of progress in a way that now it has become a daily earning for 36 lakh families. The empire we see now is the result of the creative vision of both Sardar Patel and Tribhuvandas Patel.

Quoting that Amul has become an international brand, he thanked Sardar Patel, Late Tribhuvandas and every poor person who contributed to the brand and continues to do so. Shah said that Amul has proven that if people irrespective of their status in society could come together and walk together in the same direction, the biggest of the powers can be destroyed.

Shah said that the company started with only 200 litres of milk and now stands at the turnover of Rs 53,000 crores in 2020-21. Everyday, the company processes and stores 30 million litres of milk and around 36 lakh farmers are associated with the company.

“The journey from 200 litres to 30 million litres is a big one”, said Shah.
