A Class 12 student of a private school in Surat was caught by the cyber cell for creating and sharing vulgar images of his teachers and other staff members on Instagram. The boy was released to his parents after a stern warning from the police.
According to the cyber police, the school authorities noticed the objectionable images on the social media platform and filed a complaint. The police traced the source of the images to a 17-year-old boy who studied in the same school. The police removed the images and deactivated the boy’s Instagram account.
Inspector G M Hadiya, who led the investigation, said, “The boy had uploaded the obscene images on December 9 and December 20, 2023. We have booked him under IPC sections 500 and Sections 66C and 67 of the IT Act on January 9, 2024. The boy had used a mobile app to morph the images of the school principal, teachers, supervisors, and trustees that he had downloaded from the school website. We have informed his father about his misdeeds. The boy confessed that he had done it for fun.”
