Shaktisinh Gohil Asks PM To Seek Forgiveness From People Of Bhavnagar

| Updated: September 19, 2025 18:18

Hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Bhavnagar on Saturday, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Shaktisinh Gohil has reminded him of the promises that he made in the past and has asked him to seek forgiveness from the people of Bhavnagar.

The PM is to unveil projects over Rs 1 lakh crore in Bhavnagar on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan in Ahmedabad on Friday, Gohil reminded the Prime Minister about the promises he had made in the past. Making a mention about promises made by Modi in 2006 and 2012 (before he became the PM), Gohil showed videos that were played on large screens at the public meetings.

“Not a single promise given has been fulfilled. The Prime Minister should say that he regrets for not being able to fulfill the promise and seek apology from the people of Bhavnagar,” Gohil said.

Development will not take place at a steady pace, but will happen at a fast pace, Gohil said, quoting what Modi had said in the past.

Among several things, Modi had said that Bhavnagar will benefit the most from Dholera Sir. He had also spoken about a 12 lane road on the banks of the Kalpasar Project.

As the chief minister, Modi had been to Bhavnagar in 2006 and 2012. Gohil held that the PM was coming to Bhavnagar as the civic elections are approaching.

Not a brick has been laid for a single development work that was promised, Gohil alleged.

According to Gohil, among several promises given by Modi included an international standard diamond park in Bhavnagar, GIDCs and ports. Gohil also reminded that Modi had also spoken that Bhavnagar will be the headquarters of Western Railway. Earlier, Bhavnagar used to get coaches for repairing, however now this is not happening, he added.

Gohil recalled that Modi had also spoken about giving Bharat Ratna to Bhavnagar Maharaja Krishnakumarsinh.

Demands:

The Congress leader also listed a few demands. He said that even as the country is celebrating 150th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the cricket stadium in Ahmedabad should again be renamed Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium. The Stadium’s name was changed to the name of Narendra Modi. The PM should ensure that the name change is implemented, Gohil said.

He also demanded a package for the farmers of Saurashtra and North Gujarat, who have been badly hit by heavy rainfall.

Gohil also demanded a law for minimum support prices so that those growing cotton, groundnut and onions are benefited.
