Shalini Passi has captured widespread attention with her recent appearance in Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, where her distinctive personality resonated with audiences and turned her into a household name.
Beyond her television presence, Shalini’s heartwarming relationship with her husband, businessman Sanjay Passi, has left fans intrigued, particularly due to the unique conditions she set for her arranged marriage at the age of 20.
In a recent interview, Shalini reflected on the strong values instilled in her by her grandparents. These principles shaped her decision to only consider an arranged marriage under strict conditions.
“I was brought up by my grandparents, who were extremely against smoking and drinking. They didn’t even keep a pack of cards at home. I grew up seeing that, so I had that condition,” Shalini shared, adding that she had explicitly told her parents she would not marry someone who smoked, drank or gambled.
Shalini’s criteria, while non-negotiable, initially raised doubts within her family. She recalled her mother’s scepticism, saying, “My father didn’t believe it when his family told him that Sanjay was not into drinking and smoking. He thought they were lying.”
However, Sanjay proved to be the perfect match, meeting all her expectations and more. Their meeting, which took place at a wedding, led to a swift proposal by the end of the evening and a smooth transition into married life.
At the time of their marriage, Shalini was still a college student. A year later, at the age of 21, she embraced motherhood.
Reflecting on her early entry into parenthood, Shalini remarked, “It was a great move as I was more energetic and enthusiastic. The older a woman gets, the more energy is drained from her life. When I became a mother at 21, I used to get more excited than my son when taking him to a toy store.”
She added that she feels as though she is living her life in reverse, enjoying each moment with unreserved enthusiasm.
On Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, Shalini emphasised the shared values that form the foundation of her relationship with Sanjay. She has often credited her husband for being a steadfast partner, describing him as an unwavering support and the ideal match.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better match than Sanjay,” she has said on multiple occasions, demonstrating the strength of their bond.
Shalini and Sanjay’s story began with traditional roots but evolved into a union defined by love and mutual respect.
