Sharma Meets Rahul Gandhi On Gujarat Cong. Supremo Post

| Updated: December 2, 2021 16:43

Gujarat Congress supremo Dr Raghu Sharma met Congress president Rahul Gandhi and general secretary KC Venugopal on Wednesday to discuss the appointment of a new president for the party in the state.

Speculations are rife about the announcement of a new party president in Gujarat.

The meeting between the three took place at Gandhi’s residence and lasted several hours.

On October 22, Congress MLAs from the state had also met with Gandhi, apparently to discuss the same appointment. Some twenty-five Congress leaders from Gujarat attended the meeting chaired by Gandhi. Apart from Venugopal and Sharma, outgoing president of the state congress committee Amit Chavda, Rajya Sabha member Shakti Singh Gohil, senior leader Bharat Singh Solanki, state Congress Committee working president Hardik Patel and other MLAs, including Siddharth Patel, were present in this meeting.

The Wednesday meeting between Sharma, Gandhi and Venugopal was ostensibly to present the opinion of the state leaders on the issue.

The Gujarat assembly elections are likely to be scheduled for November-December 2022. Currently, Hardik Patel is the working state president. Sources claim that Shakti Singh Gohil, Patel and some other leaders were considered for the post on Wednesday’s meeting.
