Amreen Bhat, a 35-year-old Kashmiri television actress, was slain in a terror assault in the Chadoora region of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday, May 25. When the event occurred, her 10-year-old nephew was also in her vicinity. The nephew received gunshot wounds to his arm while Amreen was confirmed dead at the hospital. The Kashmir Police confirmed the story on their official Twitter account. Amreen was a local TV talent, according to reports, who also shared her singing videos on numerous social media sites.

Officials from Kashmir reported, “Terrorists opened fire on Amreen Bhat D/o Khazir Mohd Bhat R/o Hushroo Chadoora at her residence about 1955 hours. We sent her to the hospital in a critical condition, where physicians pronounced her dead. Her 10-year-old nephew, who was also at home, was shot in the arm.”

Omar Abdullah, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, also lamented Amreen’s killing, expressing, “The cruel terrorist attack on Ambreen Bhat has shocked and grieved us. Unfortunately, Ambreen was killed in the attack, and her nephew was wounded. There can be no justification for harming women and children who are innocent. May Allah grant her a Jannat seat.”

According to reports, three terrorists from the banned terror group LeT were engaged in the attack, and a lawsuit has been filed. According to the police department, investigations are underway. According to Outlook India, Dr. Kanwaljeet Singh, the Medical Superintendent of SMHS hospital, revealed that the victim was brought dead to the hospital after being shot numerous times from close range.
