SpiceJet Faces Controversy Over Seat Allocation Errors

| Updated: May 21, 2024 17:54

SpiceJet, a prominent Indian airline, has recently come under scrutiny after passengers reported serious seat allocation errors during their flights. The incidents have sparked outrage and calls for accountability.

In one case, Manish Chavda, a passenger travelling from Delhi to Ahmedabad on SpiceJet flight SG8193, discovered that his assigned seat did not exist on the aircraft. Taking to social media, he shared an image of his boarding pass on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his frustration. “What a blunder by SpiceJet,” Manish wrote. “My seat number is 29E, but there is no 29E seat on the plane. Even the supporting staff were shocked by this oversight.”

Another passenger, Pawan Kotte, encountered a different issue on May 18th. He tweeted that SpiceJet had issued two boarding passes for a single seat, leading to chaos onboard the flight. Pawan shared pictures from inside the aircraft, tagging the airline company and stating, “A flight flying from Delhi to Ahmedabad had issued 2 boarding passes for a single seat to different passengers. I strongly feel it’s high time for the airline to shut down their services.”

SpiceJet has yet to respond officially to these incidents.
