Adani Ahmedabad Marathon

The annual Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is fast becoming an event to look forward to. The seventh edition which took place on 26th November, displayed the same degree of professionalism in arrangement and facilities that the Adani group is known to be associated with.

Dedicated to the armed forces, the annual run, the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon has the special ‘#Run4OurSoldiers’ campaign as centerstage. The city of Ahmedabad and the running community joins hand to mark this event with the celebration.

With a record 22,500 participants taking part in this year’s edition, held at the iconic Riverfront on the banks of the Sabarmati River in the heart of the city, the racers were divided into four categories, Full Marathon, Half-marathon, 10 km run, 5 km run. It was also an occasion for starting a new category the Samarth Champions Wheelchair Drive, which had 22 enthusiastic Divyang participants.

The marathon was flagged off by Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM and Major General S.S. Virk (GOC 11 RAPID), in the presence of Karan Adani (CEO, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd), Dr Priti Adani (Chairperson, Adani Foundation) and Jeet Adani (Director – Airport Business, Adani Group) at the recently inaugurated Adani Sportsline-managed Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park. Legendary cricketer Mithali Raj and popular Gujarati actor Malhar Thakar also graced the occassion.

There were close to 2,500 runners from the armed forces, 150-plus participants from the police and around 4,000 others. The inclusiveness, undelined by presence of 6 specially abled walkers touched heart of everyone.

Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd said: “I am delighted and grateful to everyone for making this day a monumental success. It gives me immense pleasure to see people from all ages come together to take part in the marathon and dedicate their efforts towards the armed forces.”

Jeet Adani, Director – Airport Business, Adani Group, pointed out the Samarth Champions Wheelchair Drive as the standout memory for himself. ” We, at Adani Group, are looking to open up more doors for the specially abled and we hope the initiative today will serve as a catalyst”, he added.

“It’s a motivation for us to see such a huge, enthusiastic crowd supporting the armed forces.” said Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM in his address.
