Ahmedabad: Law Garden Street Vendors On Protest

| Updated: November 8, 2021 12:52 pm

Traffic Police forced the street vendors around Law Garden to vacate their place as they cause hindrance to the traffic. In response to this, the street vendors are staging protest. The protesting vendors had been brought to Navrangpura Police Station where nine of the vendors decided to sit on indefinite fast.

Protesters claim that they have possess authorized street vendors’ cards issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Despite this, 35 street vendors were forced to remove their set up from Law Garden citing traffic jams. Also, in a year before pandemic hit India in 2019, the vendors were removed from the area before Diwali Festivals.

The vendors are carrying out their business from the area since last three decades.  They have claimed their right to continue to do business.
