Votes for the senate election at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University in Surat were counted on 16th August. The issue became tangled between the BJP’s ABVP and the AAP’s Yuva Chhatra Sangharsh Samiti. At noon, the two student organisations started fighting for the first time. Then, at four o’clock, there was yet another fight. In which they beat each other up and tore down the barricades put up in the university. During the disputes, one CYSS employee suffered a head injury and was taken to Civil Hospital for treatment. On the other side, senior police officers arrived at the scene and resolved everything. The fact that conflicts also broke out three days earlier during the voting.
According to Rishin Raika of NSUI, there were fights between the ABVP and Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti during the Senate election vote counting. The cops participated in the fighting by doing nothing. The student said it appeared to be police retaliation. The police gave off the impression that they were working alone. Members of the ABVP assaulted the opposing AAP leader. The effectiveness of the police has been questioned.
A minor dispute between ABVP and employees of the AAP’s Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samithi (CYSS) broke during the Senate election vote counting. The conflict evolved from a brawl into a violent fight. Dharmesh Sankadasaria of Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti was hit on the head and rushed to the civil hospital in an ambulance in a bloodstained state where the doctors began his treatment.
The police were called to settle things down after conflicts between student organisations. Given the seriousness of the situation, a police convoy led by the DCP arrived at the scene. When DCB Sagar and Sachin, Sachin GIDC, Umra, DCB, SOG, and other members of the police station arrived on the scene, they were able to stop the incident before it got worse.
