On Thursday, three men were arrested in Surat for gang-raping a 25-year-old woman in front of her friend on Wednesday night.
Police said that the woman who hails from Madhya Pradesh is a mother of five who works at a factory in Kadodara GIDC. She was chased by the accused when she was going out with her male friend on Wednesday, they added.
One of the youths picked up a fight with the shopkeeper and the trio beat him up after which they raped the woman at knifepoint. The victim and her friend filed a complaint with Kadodara GIDC police.
Police Superintendent HB Patel of Kadodara GIDC said, “Our teams had taken custody of the accused on Wednesday night. They were later arrested today (Thursday) after the Covid test results were presented to us. We have examined both the woman and the accused.”
