Two terrorists belonging to terror outfits, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF), were neutralised in an encounter by Srinagar Police in the Zakura area in Srinagar city early Saturday morning.
Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of militants in Zakura, security forces cordoned off the area and combed the vicinity at night. Even as the forces carried out the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon them. The forces retaliated, and an encounter ensued, in which, the terrorists were killed. Two pistols were recovered from the extremists.
According to Kashmir Police, one of the killed was Ikhlaq Hajam, accused in killing of head constable Ali Mohd at Anantnag on January 29.
