As many as three women farmers died while two others were left injured after a tipper allegedly hit them on Thursday morning near the protest site – Tikri border in Haryana’s Jhajjar district.
The women had been part of farmers’ protests and were waiting for an autorickshaw at around 6 AM to reach Bahadurgarh railway station and return to their native village in Mansa, Punjab, when the incident took place, informed the police.
The incident took place near Pakoda Chowk of Bahadurgarh. The victims have been identified as Amarjeet Kaur (58), Gurmail Kaur (60) and Harsinder Kaur (60) and the other two injured are identified as Gurmel Kaur and Harmeet Kaur, who are sent to PGI Rohtak.
The farmers are protesting at the Delhi border against the three new farm laws since November 26 last year, with a demand to repeal the laws.
