A 40-year-old teacher has been arrested, following complaints that he would molest minor students while giving tuition.
Acting swiftly on a complaint registered by two students, the Sarkhej police arrested Alok Kumar Satyanarayan Prasad Singh, a teacher who taught mathematics and science, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Alok Kumar, who hails from Patna’s Kankarbagh, has been living with his wife at Orchid Heights in the vicinity of Applewood Township on SP Ring Road. He has been running tuition classes for eighth to twelfth grade at his residence since 2018.
Apparently, he would inappropriately touch a Class 10 student on the pretext of teaching. The student had intimated to her family about the teacher’s misconduct.
During investigations, it also emerged that he had targeted a 14-year-old Class 9 student, who stopped taking tuition from him for the past two months. The police, suspecting that many other minors might have been his victims, have appealed to lodge complaints against him.
