Two people, including a 16-year-old girl, lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in two separate bus accidents in Surat on Friday.
The first accident occurred in the industrial Sachin GIDC area, where a 28-year-old man died and two others were injured when a bus rammed into their motorcycle. The deceased was identified as Shivpratap Sonekar, a resident of Navsari, who was riding the motorcycle with two workers — Kichpa Dawra and Kumar Dawra. They were heading towards Rameshwar Colony in Sachin GIDC area when the bus hit them from behind. Sonekar died on the spot, while Kichpa and Kumar were rushed to a hospital.
The second accident took place in Sarthana area, where a 16-year-old girl, Rupali Sahu, a resident of Laskana, suffered severe head injuries after being hit by a BRTS bus. She was crossing the road near Diamond Nagar BRTS bus stop when the bus knocked her down. Her head hit the road, causing serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors found that she had suffered brain haemorrhage. She succumbed to her injuries later.
The police have registered complaints against the bus drivers in both the cases and started investigation. The police have also appealed to the public to follow traffic rules and be careful while crossing the roads. The relatives of the victims have demanded compensation and justice from the authorities.
