The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested two nationals of Uganda at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad for smuggling heroin 1.81 kilograms hidden inside 165 capsules in their abdomen.

The two nationals were caught on separate instances of 13th February and 15th February. On 13th February, the arrested male passenger arrived from Entebbe Airport via Sharjah.

Both passengers were detained at the airport after officials found medicines inhibiting bowel movement in their bags, making them suspect that drugs might be hidden inside their bodies.

They were made to excrete the contraband capsules. After sending it for forensic tests, they concluded it to be heroin. As a result, they have been arrested under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
