An 18-year-old girl had committed suicide near Valsad in Gujarat Queen (train name) after suffering a gang-rape in Vadodara.
Police have been searching the area for 11 days, and have had a small success in which a suspect who chased a girl in a train was picked up by the Crime Branch from Surat on Monday night, sources said.
It is being speculated that the victim may have committed suicide out of fear that someone else was chasing her when she was a victim of gang rape, though there is no connection between the suspect and the Vadodara miscreant, Railway Police sources said. Though three agencies are working together in the case, the accused are still out of police custody in Vadodara.
The investigating agency complained that the administrators of the voluntary organization were not cooperating with the police in the investigation of the case. In addition, the girl was allowed to go home alone in such a delicate mental state.
Police have interrogated several young men and women working in the organization, some of whom have also checked their diaries, some of whom have also mentioned one-sided love. Although it has nothing to do with the incident, the police suspect that there is something wrong with the organization.
The only accused behind the incident of misdemeanor and suicide is a crime branch team which had reached Surat to investigate whether the two incidents are different. In which, after watching several CCTVs, he identified a suspect, who was at the railway station and was chasing the girl, who was also seen fleeing after the suspect.
The crime branch traced the suspect from Surat and is currently being brought to Ahmedabad for interrogation. Police believe that the girl committed suicide out of fear of the suspect.
