Wait Continues For 27 Gujarat IPS Officers In Line For Promotion

Even as 27 IPS officers in Gujarat await their promotions across various ranks, its expected date, initially fixed in January 2024, has been pushed back to the end of February and early March 2024.

Some of the high-ranking officers set for promotion from Additional DGP to DGP rank are Manoj Agarwal, a 1991 batch IPS officer, currently, Director of Civil Defence and Commandant of Home Guards, GS Malik, the 1993 batch IPS officer and present Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, KLN Rao from the 1992 batch, presently the Additional DGP of Prisons and Correctional Administration, and Hasmukh Patel, a 1993-batch IPS officer currently the Add.DGP and Managing Director of the Gujarat State Police Housing Corporation.

In line for promotion from IGP to Add.DGP rank are several 1999 batch IPS officers Brijesh Kumar Jha, currently the Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector-2, Ahmedabad, Ajay Kumar Choudhary, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), Ahmedabad, Wabang Zamir, holding positions in Surat City and an additional charge of Surat Range, Abhay Chudasama, overseeing the Karai Police Training Academy in Gandhinagar and Subhash Trivedi, presently in CID Crime Gujarat.

​​​​​​​Top administrative sources reveal plans to elevate eight officers from the rank of DIG to IGP, with around ten IPS officers set to rise from SP to DIG rank.
