Contrary to the belief that municipal commissioners of Surat and Vadodara will be changed, it appears that municipal chiefs of all 8 big cities will continue till Gujarat elections. State govt may appeal to the election commission to transfer only those officers who are directly related to election work. Therefore, only a few collectors & DDOs will be transferred.
After senior Cabinet minister Rajendra Trivedi was divested of his revenue portfolio over performance and corruption issues, there were rumours that the performance of his boss may not adversely impact the prospects of additional chief secretary, revenue Kamal Dayani. Senior IAS officer P Bharathi is the chief electoral officer of Gujarat. She was earlier working in the education department.
