With Aryan Khan getting bail after 25 days of legal battle, former Attorney General of India – Mukul Rohatgi has become the talk of the town. He landed late night on Monday to appear in front of the Bombay High Court today for the bail hearing of Aryan Khan for the drugs on cruise case.
Soon after getting the bail from Aryan Khan, Mukul Rohatgi spoke to the media and informed that a detailed report will be released today. And he is hopeful that all the accused will be released by Saturday.
Rohatgi is a new addition to Aryan’s legal team that already consisted of some of the big names like Satish Maneshinde and Amit Desai.
Who Is Mukul Rohatgi?
He was appointed as 14th General of India . He is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India and previously served as Additional Solicitor General of India. He held the office as AGI for three from 2014 to 2017.
Before Aryan Khan, he has previously advocated many famous and critical cases in the court. It includes the 2002 Gujarat riots cases when he represented the Government of Gujarat. In his capacity as ASG, he also argued in a case by National Judicial Appointment Commission.
He was appointed as Special Prosecutor in the high profile case investigating the death of CBI Special Judge BH Loya. Back in April 2018, the Supreme Court quashed the plea demanding an investigation into the death of Judge BG Loya and Rohatgi hailed the decision. For the same, he received a fee of Rs 1.20 crores from the state government.
He also is a friend of late Arun Jaitley, the former finance and law minister in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. He has often spoken fondly about his relationship with Arun Jaitely. In a statement, he once said that their chambers in the High Court used to be next each other and they still have those chambers. While in court at times they opposed each other and said harsh things but later they both would sit at friends.
Rohatgi followed the footsteps of his father, Awadh Behari Rohatgi. He was a judge in the Delhi High Court and completed law from the Government Law College in Mumbai. Awadh Rohatgi started to practise law soon after college. Initially, he worked under Yogesh Kumar Sabharwal/
Mukul Rohatgi is married to Vasudha who is also a trained lawyer.
