Kutiyana and Porbandar, the two seats in Porbandar district, have their own aura. Kutiyana saw the emergence of godmother Santok Jadeja, who grew from a timid widow of Sarman Munja into a shrewd political leader. The Kutiyana Assembly seat is now represented by her son Kandhal Jadeja
Kandhal says he is not dependent on any party. Hailing from a close-knit Mer community, he is confident of winning irrespective of party banner. Kandhal Jadeja won the Kutiyana seat in 2012 and 2017 on the NCP ticket, getting more than 50% votes. Kandhal is now contesting on the SP ticket.
Pitted against Kandhal are Nathabhai Odedara of the Congress Dheliben Odedara of the BJP. The AAP candidate, Bhimabhai Makwana, is also in the fray
