Tamil Nadu: In the garbage of an ATM kiosk on Kundrathur Murugan Koil Road on Monday, a 35-year-old woman with depression and a sleepwalking illness disposed 43 sovereigns of gold jewellery valued at Rs 15 lakh. The police discovered the problem only when the the kiosk’s security guard alerted them.
The security guard opened the dustbin after spotting a leather bag inside. However, the gold jewellery piled inside the sack astounded him.
The guard alerted the bank manager about the ATM right away, and the bank complained to the Kundrathur police station.
The police, after reviewing the CCTV footage in light of the complaint, discovered that the woman dropped the bag.
In the meantime, a couple also reported to the police that their 35-year-old daughter, who suffers from sleepwalking disease, vanished from their house in the early hours of Monday. However, the couple quickly let the police know that their daughter had come home.
However, the authorities showed the couple the tape, and they were able to recognise their daughter and the jewellery. The cops returned the jewellery to the couple.
Inspector Chandru of Kundrathur praised the security guard for his promptness, honesty, and alertness.
He said that the gems would not have been found in time if it weren’t for the security guard’s prompt.
