A 35 year old woman from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has come forward accusing the male relatives of her family of rape after nearly 28 years of the incident.
The woman emboldened by the support of her ex-armyma husband, lodged the complaint narrating her ordeal which she says started when she was merely 7 and continued till she was 19.
The perptrators of the sexual explotation that she was subjected to were the male mebers of the family of her step-father. She said, as registered in the FIR, that one of the her step-uncles first raped her when she was seven. Later a second step-uncle also raped her, and it went on frequently at different locations till she was 19.
She said that her mother told her to keep quiet when she told her about her nightmarish experience. The mother gave her some pills when the victim comaplined about stomach pain.
The woman, married in January 2011 says they tried to rape her even after her marriage whenever I went home to meet my mother. She says she couldn’t gather the courage to take action against them. Unable to cope up with the mental trauma, the woman eventually confided in her husband. Mother of two girls, the woman stated , “He supported me and encouraged me to fight against my exploitation.”
The woman had to approach the SSP, the National Commission for Women, and the Chief Minister’s grievance redressal portal before police agred to file an FIR. Now, the FIR has been filed in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh under the Indian Penal Code sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The woman informed that when in April, she along with her husband went to her step-father`s house to talk about the issue, not only her husband was beaten up but her mother also took the side of the accused. The police has said that “.All the aspects of the case are being probed”
