Zomato’s Valentine’s Day Surprise: Food Delivery Giant Exposes Customer’s Ambitious Plans

| Updated: February 15, 2024 18:20

Zomato, the food delivery giant, has once again demonstrated its mastery of engaging social media posts by aligning its content with ongoing trends. As couples worldwide celebrated Valentine’s Day, food delivery apps, including Zomato, experienced a surge in food orders. However, Zomato found itself in a unique situation, thanks to a Delhi resident named Tarun.

Tarun, a food enthusiast, grabbed the company’s attention after he placed orders for cakes to be delivered at 16 different addresses. Zomato humorously exposed Tarun’s ambitious plans on their official X account (formerly Twitter), leaving social media users in splits. The unexpected post amused many, while others humorously tagged every Tarun they knew.

Tarun’s impressive skills and dedication became the subject of playful debate among users. Some users teased Zomato for revealing Tarun’s actions and even compared them with the neighbourhood aunties. Since the post was shared online, it has rapidly gone viral and garnered over 5 lakh views. Zomato wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day to Tarun from Delhi who has sent cakes to 16 different addresses today.”

Users praised Tarun’s organisational skills and humorously suggested that he is gaining a reputation for exceptional service in arranging cakes and flowers for customers’ girlfriends. Others appreciated Zomato’s ability to seize every opportunity for making interesting statements.

While Zomato humorously exposed a customer’s Valentine’s Day plans, the food giant had also introduced a special matchmaking feature for the special day. The innovative feature encouraged users to discover potential matches based on shared food preferences, a twist into the traditional matchmaking process. In the app, users could specify their gender and preferences and find their perfect foody match. Adding a delightful twist to the matchmaking feature, the matches were not actually humans but they were delectable dishes. For instance, Mala represented Malai Chaap, Gul was Gulaab Jamun, Raj was Raj Kachori and Urfi stood for Burfi, among others.
