An 18-year-old girl fell into a deep borewell on Monday morning in Kanderai village of Bhuj taluka, leading to a massive rescue operation.
The incident occurred around 6:30 am when the girl, belonging to a family of migrant labourers from Rajasthan, accidentally fell into the 540-foot-deep borewell, officials said. Bhuj Deputy Collector A.B. Jadav stated that she is currently stuck at a depth of 490 feet.
Authorities initially expressed scepticism about the family’s claim regarding her fall, citing her age as unusual for such incidents. However, her presence in the borewell was confirmed by a camera inspection conducted in the afternoon.
“A local rescue team is working tirelessly to pull her out,” said Jadav. To strengthen the efforts, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Border Security Force (BSF) have been mobilised to assist in the rescue.
The operation remains ongoing, with authorities racing against time to save the teenager.
