A 22 year old complainant has filed a case with Vejalpur police saying her husband gave her instant talaq by just uttering talaq thrice on phone. She married a man from the Vatva area of the city on February 9, 2019. It was not long till he started hitting her over trivial issues. Things only got worse after she delivered a baby girl on May 7, 2020. He began beating her more, as he wanted a son, not a daughter.
In the FIR, she said that he used to harass and humiliate her by threatening that he would marry another woman. He also refrained her from visiting her parents.
In December 2021, he picked up a fight with her out of nowhere and assaulted her. He also further sent her to her maternal home in Vatva. She wished to strike some sort of balance with him, but all in vain. On Sunday, he called her on her mother’s phone and gave her instant talaq just by uttering “talaq” thrice. At this, the woman approached Vejalpur police and filed a complaint of domestic violence against the husband.
