With Assembly elections fast approaching, Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot will visit Gujarat soon. He is expected to be in Ahmedabad on August 4, where he will hold a meeting with senior party leaders of the state. This meeting is aimed at finalizing the party’s strategy for upcoming elections. He will also meet the party’s state president, state in-charge and other office bearers.
Congress will have to work hard to compete against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Gujarat elections.
During the 2017 Gujarat assembly polls, Ashok Gehlot was General Secretary In-charge of Gujarat, under whom the state party won 77 seats. Looking at this performance, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on July 12 appointed Gehlot as the senior observer for the Gujarat Assembly elections.
Gehlot was expected to visit Gujarat on July 20, but could not make it at the time. He cancelled the trip but did not offer any reason.
