After around a week of getting appointed as the Congress senior observer for Gujarat elections, Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot is all set to address Gujarat Congress leaders on July 20.
A total of 37 observers from three states – Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra appointed for 26 parliamentary constituency of Gujarat will visit the state on July 19. Before this, the Congress MLAs of Gujarat and above mentioned three states will cast their votes for the President’s election on July 18 in their respective states, informed a Gujarat Congress leader.
Visiting in Ahmedabad on July 20, Ashok Gehlot and Gujarat Congress incharge Raghu Sharma will address all the observers and MLAs to chalk out the election strategy, said the spokesperson of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC).
During 2017 Gujarat assembly polls, Ashok Gehlot was General Secretary Incharge of Gujarat, under whom the state party won 77 seats. With the 2022 assembly polls of Gujarat due later in this year, Congress has once again handed the command to the Rajasthan CM.
Apart from this, On July 21, Gujarat Congress will hold protest against Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s summons to Sonia Gandhi. This will be followed by a pan-Gujarat motorcycle rally planned by the party in August.
“The Central Government is using ED to harass and target the oppsition and to protest the same, the Congress will take on the streets on July 21,” said the spokesperson of the party.
The Congress has also appointed TS Singhdeo and Milind Deora as observers apart from Ashok Gehlot as senior observer for Gujarat elections.
