AQIS Terror Module Busted: Key Conspirator Arrested By Gujarat ATS In Major Crackdown

| Updated: July 30, 2025 13:41

A well-coordinated terror network with international links and several targets across India. This is a chilling reality that has begun to unravel. What began as a routine surveillance operation has led authorities straight to the operational heart of a dangerous Al-Qaeda-affiliated module. And now, the mastermind behind it all has been caught.

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has reportedly taken into custody a 30-year-old woman in connection with the Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS)-linked terror module.

The accused Shama Parveen was arrested in Bengaluru.

Reports have revealed that Parveen was allegedly running the entire module and acted as the main handler, orchestrating operations from Karnataka.

Her arrest comes in the wake of a major crackdown carried out on July 23, when four terror suspects, aged 20 to 25, were picked up from Gujarat, Delhi, and Noida. The individuals — Mohd Fardeen, Sefullah Kureshi, Zeeshan Ali, and Mohd Faiq — were reportedly in close coordination through a social media app, and were allegedly assigned high-profile targets across India.

Authorities maintain that the group had cross-border links and was in touch with handlers outside India. Probes indicate they were allegedly plotting coordinated attacks at prominent locations.

Backing these developments is a stark warning issued in a United Nations report, which confirms the growing influence of AQIS in the region. The 32nd report from the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team under the UN Security Council’s 1267 Sanctions Committee asserts that AQIS — led by emir Osama Mehmood — is currently being structured to expand operations throughout Jammu and Kashmir, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
