Tensions erupted at the Palladium Mall in Thaltej on Saturday as members of the Bhagwa Sena stormed the premises to protest and vandalize Christmas and New Year decorations. The group targeted a large Christmas tree display, toppling it in front of shoppers while claiming the festive installations “hurt religious sentiments.”
The disturbance forced mall management to dismantle the remaining decorations under duress to prevent further violence. A heavy police deployment arrived shortly after the vandalism began, detaining several activists and transporting them to the Vastrapur Police Station. While senior officials claim the situation is now “under control” and resolved, the incident has sparked fresh concerns over public order and the targeting of cultural celebrations in the city.
