Ghaziabad Sisters’ Tragedy: Father Under Scanner For Inconsistent Statements

| Updated: February 9, 2026 14:09

The investigation into the deaths of three minor sisters who jumped from the ninth floor of a high-rise in Ghaziabad is becoming increasingly complex by the day.

Police have reportedly found contradictions in their father’s statements. He has been unclear about his marital ties, and troubling details have emerged about the children’s lives both at home and school.

Their father Chetan Kumar reportedly had three marriages and was under severe financial strain, the police revealed to a section of the media.

Chetan told the police that in 2018 he worked in Ghaziabad arranging credit card services. During this period, he reportedly hired a young woman named Tina.

It has emerged that they had a relationship. Chetan eventually made her his third wife.

Tina is believed to be around 22 years old. She has a three-year-old daughter with Chetan.

However, Chetan had reportedly told the police that Tina was his sister-in-law. The inconsistency in his statement has become a key part of the probe.

Chetan admitted he married Sujata in 2010 and Hina in 2013. Police say the timeline raises questions. His eldest daughter from Sujata is 16 years old. This casts doubt on his claim that he remarried because his first marriage did not result in children.

Police are trying to verify the sequence of marriages through documents. This has been difficult because both Sujata and Hina are illiterate and cannot provide marriage dates or paperwork.

Police questioning revealed that the girls had not attended school for several years. The family has blamed financial hardship for stopping their education.

Officers are trying to find out which schools the girls attended earlier, how much they studied, and what led them to drop out. Police will also verify claims that the girls were weak in their studies or failing repeatedly.

The girls’ phones are missing. Police are attempting to trace them through IMEI numbers. Officials say data recovery may be difficult if the devices were formatted, but all technical options are being explored.

Police revealed that the deaths are being examined in the context of strained relationships at home and financial worries, which reportedly resulted in the children opting out of school.

Post-mortem reports, school records, mobile tracking, and additional statements from members of the family will determine the next step of the investigation.

For now, the case of the three sisters remains a puzzle. The answers are buried inside a family story that is slowly coming apart.
