A liquor case was registered in the vehicle’s name, and the accused was identified as a motorcycle. Yes, this strange incident was reported in Ahmedabad, where police were hunting to catch a bootlegger but ended up catching only his motorcycle.
This incident happened near the Sabarmati riverbed close to old Vanzar village in Sarkhej. Based on an internal tip-off, the police received information that illegal liquor was being made there and reached the spot for a raid.
When police arrived, they saw a man sitting near an illegal liquor setup with a black-and-red Hero Splendor motorcycle. But before officers could catch him, he had already noticed them from a distance and ran away from the scene.
When the police reached the place, they were left only with the bootlegger’s motorcycle. As they did not know the man’s identity, they reportedly filed an FIR in the name of the motorcycle itself as an accused item in the case.
This unusual FIR has raised eyebrows, with some sources saying this may have happened because officers did not have details about the real suspect.
The case has become a talking point in the news because instead of catching the real bootlegger, the motorcycle ended up being named in the police complaint.
