Twisha Death Case: Husband Samarth Singh Surrenders In Jabalpur Court

| Updated: May 22, 2026 20:58

The Twisha Sharma death case may now be heading toward a resolution, as her husband Samarth Singh, who had been untraceable since the FIR was registered, has surrendered in the Jabalpur court.

As per information, he first surrendered in the Jabalpur court, after which the Jabalpur police took him into custody and brought him to the Omti police station. He is expected to be handed over to the Bhopal police.

Samarth Singh had filed a pre-arrest bail application in the district court, but after withdrawing the plea, he surrendered, his lawyer said.

Samarth, who is a lawyer by profession, had been evading arrest since the FIR was registered against him and his family members in connection with his wife Twisha’s death case. The police had even announced a reward for any information leading to Samarth.

Twisha, a model-turned-actor, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12.

Her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, who is a retired district and sessions judge and currently heads the Bhopal Consumer Court, was granted anticipatory bail by a city court last week.

Twisha’s parents have accused her in-laws of harassing her over dowry and mentally torturing her, which they claim led to her death. Her in-laws have denied all the allegations and said Twisha was addicted to drugs.

The police have registered a case and FIR against Samarth Singh and his mother under Sections 80(2), 85, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
