Ranveer Singh Faces Trouble After Don 3 Exit, FWICE Issues Directive, Makers Seek ₹45 Crore Damages

| Updated: May 25, 2026 20:20

Actor Ranveer Singh is once again in the headlines, but this time not for a movie performance. Instead, he is facing controversy after walking away from a film that he had signed two years ago. The controversy started after Ranveer exited Don 3. In response, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has now issued a non-cooperation directive against him following the withdrawal complaint.

According to reports, Don 3, which will be directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced under Excel Entertainment, was already in the advanced stages of preparation when Ranveer Singh reportedly decided to step away from the project. Sources claim that the actor exited nearly three weeks before the scheduled shooting was expected to begin, and on April 11, Farhan Akhtar filed a complaint.

The producers alleged that significant investments had already been made in preparation for the film. These reportedly included hotel reservations, location bookings, overseas travel arrangements, and other pre-production work involving more than 200 workers. Along with that, all the pre-production expenses added up to ₹45 crore, which Excel Entertainment has demanded as damages from Ranveer Singh.

Following the complaint, FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive, asking its members, including technicians and film workers, not to work with the actor until the matter is addressed.

The federation also claimed that multiple notices were sent to Ranveer Singh seeking his explanation. However, according to reports, the actor did not appear before the authority. Ranveer’s representatives later reportedly responded by stating that FWICE does not have jurisdiction over the matter and offered representation through his secretary.

Reports further suggest that Ranveer Singh exited the project in December 2025, with changes in the film’s script being cited as one of the reasons behind the decision.

FWICE said the move was taken to safeguard the interests of producers and workers, adding that sudden exits from major film projects can lead to financial losses and impact employment across the industry.

As of now, Ranveer Singh has not issued a detailed public statement regarding the latest action.
