A 22-year-old Gujarati student, Vidhi Meghani has been murdered in Niagara, Canad.
Vidhi, originally from Gujarat, had been living in Canada for the past four years while pursuing higher education.
According to reports, she was residing in the Niagara region and, like many international students, was balancing her studies with a part-time job to manage her tuition fees and daily living expenses.
The incident reportedly occurred near the US-Canada border.Vidhi was allegedly attacked and stabbed by an unidentified individual. She sustained critical injuries during the assault and was declared dead at the scene.
Canadian police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the murder. Authorities are currently working to identify the accused and determine the motive behind the attack. So far, officials have not disclosed detailed information regarding the suspect or the circumstances leading to the crime.
Vidhi’s shocking death has sparked concern among Indian families whose children are studying abroad, particularly in Canada. Every year, a large number of students from Gujarat, including Anand and neighbouring districts, move overseas in search of better educational and career opportunities. The incident has once again raised serious questions about the safety and security of international students living alone in foreign countries.
