Nixa Barot, an 8-year-old from Gujarat has defied all odds to become one of the youngest
trekkers to accomplish the Mount Everest Base Camp Trek.
A native of Palanpur, Banaskantha, Nixa scaled the Base Camp on May 22. She was
accompanied by Everest Summiteer Nisha Kumari, who mentored her to steer the 130 km
trail.
The duo trekked through Lukla, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Lobuche before
culminating their journey at Base Camp. The 8-year-old marked the moment by singing the
Performing the Indian National Anthem and practising Yoga to raise awareness of mindful living.
Nixa and her mentor, Nisha Kumari, are no strangers to navigating challenging terrains. Nixa
completed the Kedarkantha Trek at the mere age of 6. Nisha, a trailblazer who became the
first woman from Gujarat to conquer Mount Everest, stressed the importance of raising young
girls to be physically strong, mentally fearless and adventure-ready from a young age.
