Days Before ₹17-Crore Wedding, Pune Businessman's Son Killed By Fiancée And Her Lover

What began as a birthday trek between an engaged couple has turned into a chilling murder case that has shocked Maharashtra. Ketan Agarwal, the son of a prominent businessman from Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune, was initially believed to have died in a tragic accident after falling into a valley at Lohagad Fort. However, police now allege that his death was the result of a carefully planned conspiracy involving his fiancée and her lover.

The incident took place on June 18, when Ketan Agarwal accompanied his fiancée, Siya Goyal, to Lohagad Fort near Lonavala to celebrate her birthday. According to the initial account provided by Siya, Ketan accidentally slipped and fell into the valley while posing for photographs at the popular trekking destination. Following the incident, rescue teams launched an operation and recovered Ketan’s body after nearly three hours.

As investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the fall, several inconsistencies emerged. Officials from the Lonavala Rural Police scrutinized mobile phone data, call records, and statements from people present at the location. The evidence reportedly raised serious doubts about the accident theory and pointed towards a possible conspiracy.

During the investigation, police detained Siya Goyal and a man identified as Chetan Chaudhry. According to investigators, Chetan was Siya’s lover and had allegedly assisted her in carrying out the murder. Police now claim that the two accused pushed Ketan into the deep valley, causing his death. Authorities are also investigating whether any other individuals may have been involved in planning or facilitating the crime.

The case has drawn widespread attention not only because of its alleged brutality but also because of the grand wedding plans that were underway. Ketan was the son of Vishal Agarwal, a well-known construction businessman based in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The couple was scheduled to marry in November, and preparations for the wedding were already in full swing.

Sources familiar with the arrangements revealed that the families had planned an extravagant destination wedding in Rajasthan. A palace venue had reportedly been booked in Jaipur for approximately ₹17 crore, while two private aircraft had been arranged to transport guests to the celebrations. Family members and relatives were eagerly preparing for the wedding before the shocking incident brought everything to a halt.

“The families were happy. This incident has come as a huge shock to both families,” a relative was quoted as saying.

Investigators believe the motive behind the alleged murder was Siya Goyal’s unwillingness to marry Ketan. According to police, she was romantically involved with Chetan Chaudhry, with whom she worked. Authorities allege that the two conspired to eliminate Ketan so that Siya could avoid the marriage and continue her relationship with Chetan.

Police claim that Siya deliberately invited Ketan for a trek to Lohagad Fort on her birthday and waited for an opportunity to carry out the plan. Once at a suitable location, she allegedly pushed him into the valley with assistance from Chetan.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Singh Gill said that the investigation established Chetan’s presence at the crime scene. “In investigation we found that Chetan was also present at the crime location and both the accused have admitted to have conspired to kill Ketan Agarwal,” the officer said.

The revelation has stunned investigators and members of both families. One police officer involved in the probe described the case as deeply disturbing, saying the biggest question was how someone could be so ruthless towards a person they were about to marry.

Police have registered a case against the accused and both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhry remain in custody. Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the conspiracy and whether any additional individuals played a role in the alleged murder.
