AAP Announces Candidates For Gujarat Assembly Elections

| Updated: August 2, 2022 14:56

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly election and is strengthening its stand in Gujarat to compete against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. The party today already announced its candidates for different constituencies. AAP said that it was making this announcement early so that the contesting candidates get enough time to reach out to the public at every stratum of the society.

AAP’s state president Gopal Italia and national joint general secretary Isudan Gadhvi held a press conference and announced the first list of candidates. The party’s deputy chief and deputy state president of Gujarat Sagar Rabari has won Bechraji ticket. Arjun Rathwa will be contesting from the Chhota Udaipur assembly seat.

Vashram Sagathia has been given the Rajkot Rural seat. Ram Dhaduk is the candidate from Kamrej seat. While Rajendra Solanki will contest the election from Bardoli seat, Bhemabhai Chaudhary has won the ticket for Deodar.

Besides, Shivlal Barsia will contest elections from Rajkot South, Sudhir Vaghani from Gariyadhar, Omprakash Tiwari from Naroda, and Jagamal Vala from Somnath.

AAP’s announcement of assembly election candidates has taken the other parties by surprise. While the BJP and Congress are still holding meetings to chalk-out plans for the Assembly elections, AAP has already finalized the candidates.

Among its election issues, AAP has so far focused on growing unemployment and corruption. The party has said that if it forms the government in Gujarat, it would carefully plan a system where every unemployed person will be given a job. Until then, the party’s government will give an unemployment allowance of Rs3000 per month to every person who doesn’t have a job.

As for corruption, the party has said that it will bring in laws that will put a stop to bribery in the cooperative sector.
