Academic Round Table Conference Held At Gujarat University

The Institute for Social and Behavior Change Ahmedabad (ISBCA) of Gujarat University and UNICEF hosted an academic roundtable on building a transdisciplinary learning and research ecosystem for behavioural insights and public policy.

Vijay Shankar Kanthan, social behaviour expert, at UNICEF India, addressing the roundtable talked about the journey of how Gujarat University got associated with UNICEF for the first time and how the centre of excellence department managed to work for the betterment of Children during covid times.

Professor Himanshu Pandya gave the keynote address and emphasized that social behaviour change initiatives are important for social impact Therefore, we need to develop a transdisciplinary approach to complement different streams and expertise. 

Dr Rory Gallagher emphasized the behavioural challenges that the world faced during a pandemic and how behavioural changes and research insights can only be applied with the combination of different disciplines. He and his team look forward to initiating behaviour changes related projects in the state within a few months.

The Heads of various departments in their addresses focused on how they could contribute to bringing behavioural changes in different fields and among different professionals. 

ISBCA supported by UNICEF will be collaborating to have a short-term and executive programme regarding social behavioural changes in the near future on the University Campus.

The head of the department of Communication Journalism and Public Relations Prof. Dr Sonal Pandya in the presence of honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Himanshu Pandya welcomed the managing director of the Behavioral Insights Team Dr Rory Gallagher from Australia and the head of various departments such as Commerce, Law, Sociology, Management, Computer Science and many more.
