Industrialist Gautam Adani has announced that his son, Jeet Adani, and his fiancée, Diva Jaimin Shah, will contribute Rs 10 lakh each every year to fund the weddings of 500 women with disabilities. The couple, who are set to marry on February 7 (Friday), have committed to this noble gesture as part of their marital vows.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Gautam Adani expressed his pride in the decision, stating, “Jeet and Diva have decided to start their married life with a noble pledge. They have taken a ‘Mangal Seva’ pledge to contribute Rs 10 lakh to the wedding of 500 Divyang sisters every year. As a father, this pledge gives me immense satisfaction. I believe this initiative will help many Divyang daughters and their families live with joy and dignity. I pray to God to bless Jeet and Diva so that they could progress on this path.”
The announcement was followed by Jeet Adani meeting 21 newlywed Divyang women and their husbands to officially launch the initiative. The gesture marks the couple’s first step in supporting individuals with disabilities.
Jeet Adani, 27, joined the Adani Group in 2019 and currently serves as Director of Adani Airport Holdings, which manages and develops India’s largest airport infrastructure portfolio, including eight airports.
He also oversees the group’s defence, petrochemicals, and copper businesses and is leading the group’s digital transformation. An alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, Jeet has a strong commitment to advocating for people with disabilities.
During a recent appearance on Shark Tank India, Jeet proposed that the show feature an episode dedicated to entrepreneurs with disabilities and those working to support them. The idea was supported by Anupam Mittal, founder of People Group and Shaadi.com, who announced a “Divyang Special” episode.
Jeet also shared that the Adani Group has committed to ensuring that five per cent of its workforce will be composed of people with disabilities.
Reflecting on what inspired the initiative, Jeet Adani spoke about a visit to Mitti Cafe, a chain of cafes across India that employs people with disabilities, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds.
“When I went to the opening of the Mitti Cafe at the Mumbai International Airport, the smile, spark, and compassion of their staff members, after all the hardships they have faced, moved me,” he said.
Jeet also acknowledged the influence of his mother, Priti Adani, who transformed the Adani Foundation from a small rural project in Gujarat’s Mundra into a powerful force for social change.
