Airport police at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport have arrested a man on charges of forgery. The accused, Pankajkumar Dharmabhai Patel, hails from Jhulasan village of Kadi taluka in North Gujarat.

Patel was apprehended under IPC sections 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and Passport Act section 12(2). The complaint against Patel was filed by Immigration Officer Nilesh Salokhe.

Salokhe was on immigration duty on January 31st, around 1:50 am, clearing passengers arriving through Qatar Airways flight number QR-534. At approximately 2:15 am, Patel presented his Indian passport at immigration counter number one. Upon checking the system, the passport was discovered to be forged, having been issued in the name of Shubham Mondal, a resident of Port Blair in Andaman.

Following the discovery, Salokhe filed a complaint at the Airport police station against Patel, who had travelled to the SVPI airport in Gujarat from America.
