Ahmedabad: AMC Takes Over AUDA-Owned Rs 45 Crore Plot, Finds Mid-Way After Realising

| Updated: January 17, 2022 07:56

In a yet again incident of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) taking up land owned by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA), the former almost caused a loss of Rs 45 crore to the latter. The AMC officials goofed up and approved an AUDA-owned plot for the project in Chandlodia, without realising the fact.

Tenders were issued and the work was also commenced by the AMC for a multi-level parking project on AUDA’s 5,000 square metre Chandlodia plot. This was when the AUDA raised an objection over AMC’s claim of considering their ownership of the plot, stating that the plot was reserved for the commercial purpose which could easily get them around Rs 45 crore and this amount was to be further used to develop infrastructure facilities.

Followed by lengthy communication from both sides, the AMC had agreed to compensate AUDA for the potential loss. The AMC decided to change its project design and build shops on the ground floor of the multi-level parking facility and AUDA will be entitled rights to sell and recover its potential loss of Rs 45 crore.
