Ahmedabad Celebrates Uttarayan In Full Swing

| Updated: January 14, 2022 19:28

One of the most awaited festivals – Uttarayan did not disappoint Gujaratis. Despite the Covid-19 outbreak, people were found on terraces flying kites but with masks. People of Ahmedabad did not blast loud music but their shouts ‘lapet lapet’ were enough for them to celebrate the festival.

People were on their terraces from dawn with their pair of sunglasses, kites, ladoos and a lot of manjha. This Uttarayan, people were not able to celebrate with friends but celebrating with their families made up for it. Undhiyu and Jalebi were consumed as a tradition.

People who were in home isolation celebrated with a small speaker in the house in hope of celebrating Uttarayan next year. Due to the good wind pressure, more people were on their terraces than expected.

In Ahmedabad, however, people were disappointed as the wind speed was too high in the morning on the day of Uttarayan, but in the afternoon, the wind receded slowly and people were enthusiastic and enjoyed kite flying. People were seen on the terrace with their family enjoying delicacies like Undhiya, Chikki and Laddoos.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic for the last two years, people have not been able to put in speakers on the day of Uttarayan. The citizens used a small speaker instead of a full-blown music system.
