A Class 4 student in Ahmedabad reportedly came home in tears and locked himself inside a room after an incident at school, leaving his mother worried about what had happened.
The 9-year-old boy has alleged that his school principal and a teacher beat him with a ruler after questioning him about a note he had written to a girl in his class.
The incident reportedly took place on September 19, when the boy allegedly handed the girl an “I love you” note. According to his mother’s complaint, the principal and teacher later questioned him about it and allegedly hit him with a ruler.
School and Family Give Different Versions
The child reportedly returned home after the incident and locked himself in a room. His mother found him crying and later learned from him about the alleged beating. She subsequently approached the police and filed a complaint against the principal and teacher.
The school management, however, has given a different account. It reportedly claimed that the boy had repeatedly disturbed the girl and alleged that his family demanded money to settle the matter.
The family has denied the allegation of asking for money and said they approached the authorities because they wanted action over what happened to the child.
The mother has also alleged that the school did not allow the family to see CCTV footage related to the incident, adding another point of dispute between the two sides.
Education Department Seeks School Report
Police have registered a complaint and are investigating the allegations against the principal and teacher.
District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhary said the school has been asked to submit a detailed report. Further action will be considered after the report is examined.
For now, both sides have given different accounts of what happened inside the school. The allegations against the principal and teacher have not been established in court, and the police investigation is still underway.
